The Benefits of Good Room Acoustics
Meeting rooms are hubs for presentations, brainstorming sessions and important discussions. Acoustic treatments ensure that speech remains clear and intelligible, making communication effortless.
Confidentiality is key in boardrooms, client meetings and HR discussions. Sound-absorbing materials prevent conversations from being overheard, safeguarding sensitive information.
External noise can be a major distraction, reducing productivity in meetings. Acoustic treatments absorb excess noise, creating an environment that encourages focus and collaboration.
AV/VC equipment is extremely sensitive to noise. Quality acoustic treatments reduce echo and bounce-back, creating the optimal audio environment.

Hawick South ChurchTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. smart-looking panels that clearly have a good impact on the RRT60. Nigel ColeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We’ve just had acoustic panels installed in our large meeting room by Resonics, and the result is excellent. The installation was completed to a very high standard—clean, precise, and professionally finished—and the panels look great. The improvement in acoustics is immediately noticeable, with no echo and a clear, comfortable environment for both table discussions and smart board use. The entire process, from start to finish, was well coordinated by Charlie and Jasper. I would highly recommend Resonics to anyone looking to improve acoustics in their workspace. Professional and experienced; The team were excellent throughout the installation, and the results should now be enjoyed by our Fellows, Students, and Community. Tony ButlerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hi Joe and Arif, Many thanks for an excellent job. The team were very professional and took care to avoid all the heaters and lights in the roof space. They left on time leaving the hall clean and tidy I was amazed that they completed the work in a day. Thanks, Tony Charles AtkinsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. On behalf of the Elsing Village Hall Committee I am writing to Resonics now that we have had some early feedback from users of our now noise-controlled Village Hall. The consensus is positive and there have been several ‘Wows’, not least over the dramatic appearance of the full array of new ceiling panels. This all goes to reflect the efficient work done by Resonics, particularly its planning and construction people, in advising, costing and then delivering the goods. Overall, the exercise has gone well, full external funding has been achieved and a cost effective and purpose-made end result has been seamlessly achieved. Randell Design GroupTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We researched Resonics as a partner to help deliver some acoustic solutions for a large new contemporary home designed by our talented team of architects and interior designers here at Randell Design Group. The two main areas were above the bespoke dining room table and in the client’s large atrium styled entrance hall. Joey Andraos took the lead in helping us to identify the correct solutions in both areas and Jasper Hill Baldwin completed the measurements on site. Their solution was delivered by their expert installation team on time with no deviation on costs to their original quote. The whole team were helpful, punctual and time efficient. Our client is delighted by the solutions installed and we would thoroughly recommend Resonics as a future partner to help with acoustic solutions in high-end residential homes. Rosy WalkerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I received some of the best service from Resonics that I have ever had. From the first phone call to the installation of the sound proofing panels in my large outside pavilion, the attention I received, the first rate communication and updates, could not have been bettered. It is become rarer to receive such excellent service, but Resonics earns it’s status as an outstanding example of the customer being given the full attention of the provider. I could not be happier with the result. I wish to thank everyone from the team whose joy in providing their product, was palpable from the outset. Well done darlings. britishcomposersTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. While penning a true-to-form 1930's Art Deco cinema for a private residence, I came across this operation with a specific intended form of panelling in mind that served not only as an acoustic deadener, but also as an aesthetic 'enabler' that would successfully lend itself toward the archetypical cinema interiors' criteria, as deployed back in the golden age of moderne Deco designs. Arif and the team at Resonics were efficient and on-point with my enquiry, the order and the final installation. While not cheap, the product is exactly what was wanted and looks fantastic. Rob LodgeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently used Resonics for the installation of acoustic panels in a new arts centre we've just opened. From start to finish, the experience was excellent — clear communication throughout, a smooth and professional installation process, and a high-quality end result. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. Rob Lodge, Director of Estates & Facilities, Prior's Court Foundation.

FAQs & tips for selecting the right acoustic products
- Prioritise placement: Position panels near noise sources or reflective surfaces to maximise sound absorption.
- Know the problem: If sound is transferring between rooms, absorption panels won’t help. A site sound test can pinpoint the issue.
- Consider sound masking: In many cases, it’s an effective solution for controlling sound spill between spaces.
- Get a room assessment: An expert evaluation will ensure the right products are used to create a balanced acoustic environment.
Yes. Acoustic panels are proven to work — they absorb sound energy, reducing echo and controlling reverberation in a room. Without acoustic treatment, sound bounces around hard surfaces such as glass, plaster, concrete, or wood, creating a noisy and tiring environment. Panels are made from sound-absorbent materials that trap and dissipate this energy. The result is speech clarity, calmer background noise levels, and a more productive atmosphere. At Resonics, we only use panels tested in independent acoustic laboratories, ensuring their performance is certified and measurable. With more than 5,000 completed projects across the UK and Europe, we’ve seen first-hand how transformative they can be in offices, schools, restaurants, and community spaces.
The number of panels required depends on the size, shape, and materials in the room, as well as the intended use. A small meeting room might need as few as 6–8 wall panels to one wall, while an open-plan office could require dozens of ceiling baffles or rafts. The aim is to reduce the reverberation time to a comfortable level, not to cover every surface.
Walls: Good practise is to apply panelling from skirting to ceiling to 2no. perpendicular walls to reduce flutter echoes.
Ceilings: In accordance with new BS ISO 22955:2021 guidelines, the ceiling is the most important treatment area, and should feature approximately 50-60% Class A coverage in open plan office spaces.
Resonics provides a free acoustic survey and CAD layout to determine exactly how many panels you need and where they should go. This ensures you invest only in what’s necessary to achieve measurable results.
The best placement depends on how the room is used:
- Offices/meeting rooms: first reflection points (side walls and ceiling above desks). Ideally on 2 perpendicular walls to reduce flutter echo.
- Restaurants/classrooms: spread evenly across walls and ceilings to avoid “hot spots”. Ideally above 50% of the ceiling area using Class A products.
- Studios: direct reflection points behind and beside speakers/microphones.
Ceilings are often the most effective surface because they are large, open, and unobstructed. Our free CAD proposals include detailed layouts showing the exact recommended panel placement for maximum performance.
Prices vary depending on size, material, and finish, but as a very rough guide:
- Wall panels: from £80–£200 each
- Ceiling rafts: from £150–£400 each
- Baffles: from £60–£120 each
Installation costs are additional and depend on project complexity. The best way to get an accurate price is through our free site survey and quotation.
While acoustic treatment is an investment, it quickly pays back in improved productivity, wellbeing, and customer satisfaction. In offices, better acoustics reduce distractions and boost concentration. In restaurants, they improve ambience and encourage repeat visits.
Yes — with the right combination of absorption and sound masking, conversations become unintelligible outside the room, protecting privacy for sensitive discussions.
Yes — acoustic solutions can be fabric-wrapped, coloured, or even printed with branding or graphics, ensuring they look like part of the room’s design rather than an add-on.
Microphones pick up reflected sound, making voices sound hollow or distorted. This reduces clarity for remote participants and makes virtual meetings frustrating.
Resonics install sound-absorbing panels, ceiling rafts, and baffles to reduce echo, and sound masking or insulation solutions to improve privacy and prevent noise bleed.
Common issues include echo (reverberation), poor speech clarity, noise leaking in from outside, and lack of speech privacy — where conversations can be overheard in adjacent spaces.
Meeting rooms are designed for communication — whether face-to-face or via video calls. Poor acoustics can lead to misunderstandings, reduced productivity, and an unprofessional impression.
