Islip Village Hall
The problem: Like many village halls, Islip Village Hall was struggling with its acoustics. Hard floors, bare walls and a high ceiling created excessive reverberation, making the space difficult to use for anything that required clear speech. With an RT that exceeded what's comfortable for a mixed-use space, noise built quickly and conversations became tiring and difficult to follow.
Our solution
Village Hall Acoustic Panels
Resonics installed a combination of Ecophon Solo Square and Ecophon Solo Rectangle acoustic rafts, suspended from the ceiling. The freehanging panels were positioned to maximise absorption where it was most needed, bringing down reverberation time and keeping the space visually open.
Ecophon Solo panels absorb sound on both faces, making them particularly well-suited to tall, reverberant spaces like village halls. The mix of square and rectangular formats allowed us to create a layout that covered the room effectively while sitting neatly within the existing ceiling structure.
The Outcome
Islip Village Hall now functions as a space where people can hear each other clearly, whether it’s a packed meeting or a quiet weekday class.
The improvement in acoustic comfort has made the hall a noticeably more pleasant and practical venue for all kinds of use.
