Wycombe Leisure Centre
The problem: Swimming pools present some of the most challenging acoustic environments. High ceilings, hard reflective surfaces, and the presence of water all contribute to poor sound control. As sound travels across water, it slows and amplifies, creating excessive reverberation and noise. Without effective treatment, announcements and safety directions become difficult to hear, compromising both guest experience and swimmer safety.
Our solution
Resonics was engaged to design and deliver a comprehensive acoustic system for the leisure centre. After a detailed analysis, our acoustic team developed a solution using Autex Quietspace Cube panels—customisable acoustic products that combine Autex Vertiface fabric with a 100% polyester core for up to 90% noise absorption.
To complement this, we installed an Ecophon Solo Circle ceiling system. These unframed, free-hanging acoustic panels were arranged in a repeating baffle formation, offering both high-performance sound absorption and a clean, modern aesthetic. The design integrated seamlessly with existing ceiling services while enhancing the visual character of the space.

The Outcome
The result was a tailored acoustic system that transformed the leisure centre’s pool and surrounding spaces.
The combination of high-performance materials and bespoke design significantly reduced reverberation, improved speech intelligibility, and elevated the overall guest experience.
