LSO St Luke’s
The problem: LSO St Luke’s, home to the London Symphony Orchestra, presented a unique acoustic challenge within a Grade I listed building. The space required improved sound clarity and control to support rehearsals and performances, while preserving the building's historic character. No permanent fixtures were permitted, placing strict limitations on how acoustic treatments could be introduced.
Room Type: Churches
- Products:
- Tenso Wall
- Autex Horizon
- Acoufelt Acoustic Screens
Location: London, United Kingdom
Our solution
Resonics delivered a non-invasive acoustic scheme that respected the architecture and conservation requirements of the building.
In the main performance space, Autex Horizon rafts were installed to control reverberation and reduce echo, improving conditions for rehearsals, performances and recording.
Acoufelt acoustic screens were introduced across the windows to reduce glare, diffuse natural light and provide additional absorption. With no fixings, screws or glue allowed, Resonics developed bespoke frames, enabling installation without impacting the building.
Within the recording studio, Tenso Wall was installed to create a balanced and controlled acoustic environment.
Every treatment was carefully installed to improve the sound environment while remaining unobtrusive.
The Outcome
The result is a refined rehearsal space that supports clarity, balance and precision for musical performances, especially full orchestras.
The space now meets the demands of world-class music making, while preserving the historic character of LSO St Luke’s without permanent fixtures.
