Office

Clyde & Co, London

The problem: Clyde and Co's restaurant is one of the busiest spaces in their London office, serving hundreds of colleagues every day. Following a refurbishment, the space looked stunning, but it didn't sound right. With hard, reflective surfaces throughout, the restaurant had a reverberation time of 1.1 seconds. During lunchtime peaks and events, noise built up quickly, making conversation difficult and the space less comfortable. The brief was clear: reduce the echo, calm the environment, and create a space where people genuinely want to connect, without compromising the design that had just been completed.

Our solution

Working with the Clyde & Co team, we designed an acoustic scheme that maintained the restaurants updated interior.

SilentSpace ceiling rafts. Suspended across the bar and dining zones, the rafts double as a modern, sculptural ceiling feature while absorbing the bulk of the excess noise where it matters most; directly above the busiest seating.

A honeycomb feature wall in Tenso Print. Located in the coffee lounge, this sound-absorbing printed wall is a subtle nod to the bees living on the building’s roof, tying the acoustic treatment into Clyde & Co’s wider sustainability initiatives.

An acoustic booth zone in Tenso Wall. Reflective white walls around the booth seating were transformed into a soft grey acoustic surface, creating a calmer haven for focused, quieter conversations.

Every element was chosen to do two jobs; control the noise and add to the character of the space.

The Outcome

Post-installation testing confirmed the reverberation time had fallen from 1.1 seconds to 0.7 seconds, a reduction of more than a third, and comfortably within the range recommended for restaurant and social spaces.

The result is an office restaurant that works as hard acoustically as it does visually. Lunchtime conversation no longer competes with the room; the coffee lounge offers a genuinely quieter retreat, and the acoustic treatments have become part of what makes the space worth visiting.
