LSE Library, London
The problem: As part of a major refurbishment at the London School of Economics (LSE) library, the university sought to address significant acoustic challenges on the bottom floor. This area, dedicated to collaborative and group study spaces, experienced high noise levels and disruptive sound transfer between study zones and circulation areas. To create an environment conducive to productive learning, a tailored acoustic solution was required.
Our solution
Resonics implemented a combination of acoustic wall panels and custom acoustic dividers to tackle the dual challenge of reducing overall noise levels and minimizing sound transfer.
Autex Acoustic Dividers
Strategically placed to act as barriers between study areas and walkways, effectively limiting sound transfer and maintaining focus zones for students.
Acoustic Wall Panels
Installed along key areas to absorb ambient noise, improving sound clarity and reducing overall noise levels.

The Outcome
The newly installed acoustic treatments transformed the bottom floor of LSE Library into a more focused and collaborative learning environment.
Noise transfer between spaces was minimized, while overall noise levels were brought down to support individual and group study sessions. This project highlights Resonics’ ability to deliver bespoke solutions for educational institutions, enhancing both functionality and user experience.
