The Problem

Vodafone’s huge headquarters in Newbury is a state of the art ‘campus’ that houses around 3,000 staff. When a large refurb was undertaken at one of the site’s buildings, Resonics was called in to provide a solution for the common problem of high reverberation and poor speech intelligibility in the office’s meeting rooms and open plan spaces.

With so many people working in the office and meeting rooms, it was vital that the refurb included an acoustic solution that would absorb large amounts of noise created by staff working, talking and using equipment.

The Solution

We had to design a solution that would not only provide class A sound absorption in all the acoustically problematic areas, but also work in line with refurb designer’s specifications. In total the project consisted of fitting over 100m2 of Fabric Wall installations over three floors.

Meeting rooms, open spaces and focus rooms were all treated. The walls were finished with our acoustically breathable fabrics installed in a range of colours to complement the look of the newly refurbished spaces.

The Result

The final result of this large project was a high-end acoustic solution that accommodated the acoustic and design requirements of the brief. Whilst absorbing up to 90% of sound, the walls also provide a beautiful finish to the refurbished spaces.

A high quality, sleek finish has been achieved by constructing the Fabric Walls to accommodate wall fixtures and fittings and even fit corners.
