Camira Fabrics
Camira Fabrics is an award winning UK textile innovation company with a long history of creating fabrics for a wide range of sectors. They design and manufacture a huge range of fabrics for worldwide commercial interiors and transport.
Camira continually endeavor to push beyond the technological limitations of fabric design and production, delivering aesthetic innovation and pioneering environmental manufacturing. Camira produce over 11 million metres of fabric a year.
A leading name in the textile industry, known for its innovative and sustainable fabric solutions. Tracing its origins back to 1974 under the name Camborne Fabrics, the company has built a reputation for quality textiles within the commercial interiors industry. Their history of acquisitions and expansions, including a significant period under Interface, Inc., has enriched their expertise and environmental focus.
One of Camira’s notable strengths is their deep-rooted commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Their textile solutions are curated to be inherently flame retardant and suitable for a range of applications, from upholstery to vertical and drapery. The company has a long history dating back to 1783, and this heritage is reflected in their approach to fabric manufacturing. By focusing on natural and rapidly renewable materials like nettle, hemp, flax, wool, and silk, Camira produces textiles that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also meet various application needs and sustainability standards
Camira’s expertise extends to the design and manufacturing of bast fiber textiles. These are made from blends of pure new wool and natural fibers derived from plants like nettles, hemp, and flax. The unique properties of bast fibers contribute to the strength, elasticity, and flexibility of the textiles, making them ideal for interior applications. Importantly, these textiles achieve commercial flame retardant (FR) certification without the need for chemical post-treatment, emphasizing their commitment to environmental and user safety. Additionally, many of Camira’s sustainable textiles are certified to the EU Ecolabel and Indoor Advantage Gold, reflecting their adherence to environmental building standards
